How To Make Your Eyes Irrisistible

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

By Allison Saunders The Eyes Have It Remember the dreamy eyes of your first love? Who can resist a beautiful set of eyes? Your eyes are one of your most important features. Do you treat them like the treasures they are? Even if your eyes are not ‘to die for’, you can make them truly memorable. Eye Care. Do you care for them the way you should? Sunscreen on your lids? Sunglasses? Carefully cleaned and stored contact lenses? Makeup remover made expressly for eyes? Adequate sleep? These aren’t merely suggestions. They’re requirements for stunning eyes. Eye Color. Do you take the time to make up your eyes everyday. Take a minute to add some extra color and your whole face will light up. Medium and dark complexions cant go wrong with universal earth tones. Going to work? Apply brown tones on the lower lids, highlight with a light taupe at the inner corners, sweeping up and outward to the brow bones. Going out on the town? Add a complementary bronze or deep gold to your outer lid, gently swept from the middle of the eyelash line to the corner of the eyes. Fair faced women should use lighter colors as their basic palette. Conservative? Use two colors for day - apply medium-gray or mushroom all over the lids to the brow bones, and from the middle of the lash line outward with a coordinating lighter shade from the same family. At night, add a shimmering gold dust overcoating. Eyelashes and Eyebrows Lets talk mascara. Brown is becoming ever more popular because it complements all iris colors. It works on everyone, as does the standard black. And even though it’s available, avoid blue and green tinted mascara, unless it matches your ultra-colorful dye job. Waterproof mascara is really not for everyday, unless you’re especially weepy. A water-soluble mascara leaves your lashes in healthier condition, and healthy is beautiful. No one has the perfect arch without a little help from tweezers or a lot of help from a stylist. All eyebrows need taming, whether its tweezing to remove one stray hair or an all-out waxing at the salon. Tweezing is cheap, which is great. And you dont need an appointment. Oh, and if you use tweezers… Did you know that some estheticians (thats a highly trained skincare professional) will create a template for you to use when tweezing? If you want to deal with your brows on a less frequent basis, investigate having your eyebrows waxed at a reputable salon. It hurts, but many women feel the irritation is worth the gorgeous results. Eyeglasses. Wear them if you need them? Of course. They’re not just an accessory of necessity. Carefully chosen spectacles look great and can draw deserved attention to your eyes. Just think how smart they make you look. And smart is always in style! ———————————————————- Allison Saunders is a MAC qualified Make-up Artist and the author of an amazing new course, “Hollywood Makeup Secrets” a step-by-step simple video system for maximizing your inner and outer beauty potential. The Wedding Favor Tradition

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

By Joe Palladino No one knows for sure how it all got started, but story has it that hundreds of years ago when the Bride and Groom decided to join hands and become one, in order to make official their commitment to one another, the witnesses which of course now a days better known as wedding party guest who attended this unity in marriage as proof of this unity took home a memento or wedding keepsake. In this keepsake, or back in the day “scroll” was the Bride and Groom name and date of their unity as record and confirmation that the ceremony indeed took place and made legal. The purpose of these wedding favors or bridal favors were simply to confirm the unity of the marriage and to offer these witnesses or wedding reception guest wedding favors as part of the ceremonial and reception party procedure. It was thought that thought that it was not just a gift of celebration but more of a ceremonial tradition that was required in order for it all to be legal and binding. Of course there is no facts that this was the case but there appeared to be some type of tie between weddings ceremonies and wedding reception traditions. For example unity candles play a big roll in ceremonial church weddings. We can all agree that these unity or ceremonial candles are used to symbolize the unity of marriage when two hearts become one. This is the same thought that goes behind every wedding favor. Wedding Favors are to symbolize the celebration of love and marriage but even more its a part of a tradition an acceptance of a wedding tradition where guest party favors are as much a part of marriage as the ceremony and legality itself. Favors are a part of marriage as is marriage a part of wedding favors. Think about it for a moment. If you were to get married and had a wedding party of two hundred or so guest, the day was lovely and everything went very well, except for one thing, favors were not offered to your guest. I am sure you feel like there was something missing at the end of the day? Your guests would definitely feel the same way if there was no type of personal wedding party favors or unique wedding favors to take home with them to remember your special day. The reason for this is because wedding favors has now become a big part of the bridal party wedding tradition and also has become a fact of life. This tradition was believe to have started hundreds of years ago and to this day wedding favors are alive and doing very well. Getting Rid of that Spot on Your Carpet

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

By Enrique Cleanotto By their very position in the home, carpets catch everything that falls to the ground. This means you are going to need how to deal with spills. Getting Rid of that Spot on Your Carpet If you’ve ever installed carpets in your home, you know what an expensive and difficult task it can be. Carpet can make your house feel warm and cozy, as well as being a practical floor covering and great alternative to expensive hardwood flooring. Keeping your new carpet clean, however, can be an even greater task than installing it. Aside from regular vacuuming and shampooing, there are also times when a stain can really affect the look of your floor. Cleaning spills can be tricky, especially if you’re unsure of the colorfastness of your carpet, or if you don’t know how old the stain is. One of the first things you need to do, before even attempting to clean it, is to determine what kind of liquid or material made the stain. Your treatment for red wine stains, for example, is going to be different than if your child went crazy with a permanent marker. If the stain is older, you can usually still see what kind of stain it is by checking the color, and sometimes even smelling the stained area. The second trick to cleaning that carpet stain is to blot. Never rub or brush a stain, no matter what it’s made of. This will only serve to push the stain further into the nap of the carpet, as well as possibly spread the material further. If you’re dealing with a red wine stain, here’s a good process for removing it: blot up as much of the wine as possible with an absorbent cloth or paper towel. Then, purchase one of the many wine stain removers available at stores such as Wal-Mart, Target or home stores. Use according to directions, making sure not to brush the stain. For families with kids, cleaning problems made with markers or other indelible inks may be a common occurrence. To get rid of these stains, fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray onto the ink. Blot up until it’s dry. You will have to repeat this process until the ink is gone (persevere and you will be rewarded!). As always, do not rub or brush the alcohol into the carpet, because this can just make the situation worse. Keeping your carpets clean and free of stains can be easy if you follow specific steps for getting rid of stains. Like it or Not, Finance Matters, a Lot

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

By Mika Hamilton Finance. We hear that word thrown around quite a bit and used in phrases like in the world of high finance or financing options are available for those who qualify, but what does it really mean? It doesnt take an E.F. Hutton or J. Paul Getty to understand that the term finance and variations like financial, financing, financier, and such are related to monetary matters. You may be surprised, however, just how many people have no real idea what is meant by finance. In fact, its safe to say that much of America has a better fix on the goings on inside the Big Brother house than they do on what happens at the Federal Reserve! This is sad, but true. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language offers four definitions for the word finance. They are: 1. The science of the management of money and other assets. 2. The management of money, banking, investments, and credit. 3. Finances Monetary resources; funds, especially those of a government or corporate body. 4. The supplying of funds or capital. The third and fourth definitions are not what were dealing with here as they indicate the funds and capital belonging to a person, persons, or business entity (My finances are in total disarray!) and the act of lending money (I couldnt buy the new SUV because I didnt qualify for the financing.). The first and second definitions, however, are right on the, um, money. This is what theyre talking about on CNN Financial. This is what concerns economists and financial analysts. This is what should concern you. The world of finance in the United States revolves around several things. These include the stock market because the prices at which stocks trade are a direct result in most cases of how well the companies are doing, the actions of the Federal Reserve which sets interest rates and is responsible for the coining of money, and the value of the American dollar as compared to other national currencies. Many people think that, unless they have significant investments and considerable assets, financial matters like these do not concern them. Nothing could be further from the truth. The unfortunate fact is that, while the wealthy are more immediately concerned with finance, the common people are usually the most affected when extreme changes in the financial world happen. The stock market crash of 1929 is a prime example of how drastically financial upheavals can effect everyone in the country. Hydroponic Gardens Are Great For Apartments

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Allison Agnock Perhaps you love to garden but are frustrated because you live in one of the upper floors of a high-rise apartment building. The biggest hurdle to overcome is the fact that you have no soil in which to grow plants, and lugging bagged soil up to your apartment would be no easy task. There is, however, an easy way to garden in an apartment successfully, and that is through the use of hydroponic gardening. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. You can start with a small homemade automated hydroponic growing system that can fit on a windowsill, and move up to a larger system if space permits. One of the best reasons to consider growing plants in your apartment hydroponically is that this type of system is much easier to get set up than hauling heavy containers and soil up several flights, and the end result is fresh food for your family. To get started with a hydroponic garden in an apartment, you will need to know that there are two basic systems you can choose from: water based and media based. Medium is not soil, but instead could include composted bark, gravel, peat moss, perlite or vermiculite. Also, if you select an active system it will need electronic timers and pumps to make it function well, whereas a passive system doesn’t rely on pumps and instead uses a wicking agent for the roots of the plants to access the nutrients. Because the plants are grown in water, they receive no nutrients from the soil as they ordinarily would. Instead, in hydroponic plant gardening the gardener supplies the plants with nutrients by applying a nutrient solution to the roots via distilled water. The big three nutrients that plants need are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. There are other nutrients, called macronutrients and micronutrients, that the plants will need as well and will need to be added to the nutrient solution. Macronutrients are needed in greater amounts, and micronutrients in smaller amounts, but all are needed for plants to thrive. One of the benefits to growing plants in a hydroponic manner is that they are less bothered from pests and diseases. Many plant pests live in the soil, so when you eliminate the soil you often get rid of the pest’s habitat. Hydroponic plant propagation can also be accomplished without using a great deal of pesticides Another reason why this style of gardening is popular is it will produce more food than you could grow in the same amount of soil. You can grow the food in a spot where there is no soil at all, namely, your apartment. So have fun gardening and produce some great-tasting food with hydroponic plant gardening.
